|In my opinion one of the most complicated things for English learners is Irregular Verbs, Why?… Honestly I think is because WE HATE MEMORIZING THINGS it is impossible to ignore them, they are part of the language, you can see them used in your favorite songs, movies, booklets, manuals, etc. This is not a tragedy, it is just a matter of having the adequate techniques to learn them. Here are some suggestions that may help.
SUGGESTION NO. 1 PLAY A GAME.
You need 60 blank cards
Use 30 cards to write an irregular verb in its present tense (you can get these verbs from a website or from a list of a book).
In the rest of the cards write the past form of each of the verbs you used
Then, put all of them face down and mix them
The person who gets more pairs wins
THIS GAME CAN ALSO BE USED FOR PRACTICING PAST PARTICIPLE VERBS.
SUGGESTION NO. 2 MAKE A POSTER
1.- PASTE YOUR POSTER IN A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN SEE IT EVERY DAY.
2.- DO NOT INCLUDE TOO MANY VERBS.
3.- BEGIN WITH SMALL VERBS.
4.- USE DIFFERENT COLORS AND TEXT SIZES.
5.- YOU CAN MAKE AS MANY POSTERS AS NECESSARY, BUT DON´T MAKE A NEW ONE UNTIL YOU HAVE MEMORIZED THE FIRST.
THIS POSTER CAN ALSO BE USED FOR PRACTICING PAST PARTICIPLE VERBS.
