These words usually cause headaches to English students, this is why you should always remember this:

DO and DOES can be used in two situations:

1.- When they work as  verbs.

DEFINITION

DO (VERB): perform an action, activity, or job

Examples:

I DO homework.

They DO the cleaning.

Luis DOES exercise.

DO ————— I / YOU / WE /THEY

DOES ———— HE/ SHE /IT

2.- When they work as auxiliary verbs.

They are used for forming a question or  negative idea and they go before another verb, but have NO MEANING.

Examples:

* I do not (don´t) get up late on weekends -NEGATIVE IDEA-

* Mary does not (doesn´t) remember where are the keys. –NEGATIVE IDEA-
